United Way Northern New Mexico Opens Grant Portal for 2027 Funding

Eligible nonprofits serving Los Alamos and Rio Arriba counties invited to apply

Los Alamos and Rio Arriba Counties, September 2, 2026 — United Way Northern New Mexico has opened its grant portal for 2027 Community Action Fund funding requests. Eligible 501(c)3 nonprofits serving residents in Los Alamos and/or Rio Arriba counties may apply through September 30, 2026 at unitedwaynnm.org/grants.

“At its heart, our Community Action Fund is about neighbors helping neighbors,” said Donna Milanovich, Executive Director of United Way Northern New Mexico. “Every gift we receive helps local nonprofits do the work our communities depend on; feeding families, supporting young people, helping seniors, strengthening mental health, and responding when people need help most. Through this grant process, those dollars stay local, helping vital services reach people throughout Los Alamos and Rio Arriba counties.”

Funding priorities for 2027 include:

  • Education and Youth Mentorship - Programs that give young people skills, connections, and opportunity

  • Behavioral Health and Parental Supports - Services that strengthen family stability and community health

  • Food and Housing - Access to basic needs for individuals and families in crisis

  • Senior Transportation - Getting older adults to healthcare and essential services

Applicants must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit in good standing with the Secretary of State and IRS, and serve residents in one or more of these areas.

Applications are accepted online only. The portal closes September 30, 2026. Grant awards will be announced in December.
