United Way Northern New Mexico Awards $303,084 in Nonprofit Grants

**News Release**

Los Alamos and Rio Arriba Counties, December 18, 2025 — United Way Northern New Mexico (UWNNM) is pleased to announce that 23 nonprofit organizations serving Los Alamos and Rio Arriba Counties will receive a total of $303,084 in Community Action Fund grants for 2026.

The Community Action Fund is powered entirely by local giving, ensuring that donations stay right here in Northern New Mexico. Through year-round fundraising efforts, UWNNM helps provide nonprofits with the flexible funding they need to respond to emerging challenges, sustain essential services, and support families where needs are greatest. Grants are awarded to vetted 501(c)(3) organizations serving residents of Los Alamos and/or Rio Arriba Counties, supporting programming, general operations, and direct services across the region.

This year, UWNNM received 54 grant applications totaling more than $1,090,754, underscoring both the strength of the nonprofit sector and the growing needs within the community.

“Our Grants Committee devoted many hours to carefully reviewing each application and conducting interviews,” said Cindy Padilla, Executive Director of UWNNM. “While we wish we could fund every request, these grants are a powerful example of what happens when a community comes together. Every dollar represents trust, compassion, and a shared belief that by working together, we can build stronger, healthier communities. We look forward to continuing to grow this fund and expanding our impact in the years ahead.”
