2018 was a busy and pivotal year for the United Way of Northern New Mexico. We faced many unprecedented challenges and for the first time, reached deep to truly serve our region. But there is so much more to be done.
UWNNM is in the midst of an important, belated, and painful transformation. While the philanthropic landscape changed over the last decade, we resolutely continued business as usual. We have only recently come to terms with the cold, hard fact that if we are to grow and meet the demands of our community, we must grow and evolve ourselves. And so that difficult process must begin.
We are extremely committed to each of our funded organizations, that has not changed. However, we are still evaluating the best way to meet the needs of our community organizations and address the changes that must occur within our own. We appreciate your patience while we continue to make adjustments to our 2019 grant funding process. We understand that many of you depend upon our funding for your summer programs; that is foremost in our minds. We are proceeding with urgency.
Like all non-profit organizations, UWNNM must diversify and expand our fundraising endeavors to include multiple streams of revenue. It is unrealistic to think we can raise the money required to fund ourselves and dozens of other organizations within a ten-week annual campaign.
We are growing our fundraising campaign to meet the demands of our community, but we also want to assist our regional organizations in their fundraising diversification efforts. Attached to this email is a Regional Grant Matrix, designed to help you locate and apply for appropriate funding. We hope you find this tool helpful.
Thank you for your patience. We will be in touch soon with new dates and deadlines for the 2019 UWNNM Grant Application.
